The Players Course: A Classic, Reimagined for Today
Originally debuting in 2007, the John Fought–designed Players Course has long been admired for its timeless American layout—drawing inspiration from iconic courses such as Riviera and Winged Foot, along with the strategic artistry found in Dr. Alister MacKenzie’s legendary designs near Melbourne. After an extensive and thoughtfully executed renovation, the Players Course now reemerges with a bold new identity that respects its heritage while embracing modern innovation.
The redesign elevates every aspect of the golf experience. Fought’s signature bunkering and strategic contours remain at the heart of the course, but updated shaping, improved turf conditions, and enhanced playability features create a more refined and balanced test for golfers of all abilities. Many of the property’s original mature trees continue to line the fairways—preserving the charm and character that longtime players love—while newly refreshed landscaping introduces a clean, contemporary aesthetic.
Each hole has been thoughtfully oriented and enhanced to highlight panoramic desert scenery, showcasing dramatic views of the San Jacinto, Santa Rosa, and San Bernardino mountain ranges, with the striking Eisenhower Mountain anchoring the skyline to the south. The result is a revitalized championship course that feels both classic and current—one that rewards creativity, precision, and pure enjoyment from the first tee to the final green.
